Nestled on the shores of the Juutua River and near Inari village, Wilderness Hotel Juutua provides boutique accommodation surrounded by stunning scenery. Guests can enjoy local cuisine, a variety of activities, and the opportunity to witness the elusive northern lights.

Relax and unwind while enjoying the comfort of the new, modern rooms and the tranquility of Lappish nature. Additionally, the Aanaar Restaurant, a distinguished fine dining establishment next to the wilderness river Juutua, tells the tale of the northern wilderness through its award-winning cuisine.

Package Itinerary

Example itinerary and subject to change upon arrival at the resort:

Day 1: Welcome to Juutua Wilderness Hotel
  • Flights to Ivalo via Helsinki from Heathrow or Manchester (some direct flights available upon request)
  • Transfer to Juutua wilderness resort from airport (approx. 40-45 minutes)
  • Evening meal
  • Check into Wilderness Room
Day 2: Meet the Reindeer and 5 Course Dinner
  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
  • 2-hour Meet the reindeer – At the reindeer farm you will learn interesting information about the reindeer and the life of a reindeer herder and Sami culture. This guided trip will be made by car.
  • 5 course dinner
Day 3: Husky and Snowmobile Adventure
  • Breakfast
  • 3-hour Husky safari – This adventure will take you through stunning lakes and forests. Before we set off, you’ll learn how to handle the sled. Feel the excitement of the huskies as they get ready and then enjoy the serene silence as they pull your sled through the beautiful winter scenery. Each sled is set up for two guests, with one mushing and the other seated in the sleigh. Halfway through the journey, you’ll switch positions so both of you get to experience the thrill of mushing.

  • 4-hour Snowmobile adventure – Snowmobiling is the best way to truly explore the wilderness. After a driving lesson, we’ll head off on an exciting snowmobiling day that will take us through Lapland landscapes into untouched wilderness surroundings. We’ll enjoy a lunch and warm drinks, making the day even more special.

Day 4: Snowshoeing and Sauna Experience
  • Breakfast
  • 4-hour Snowshoeing adventure – Snowshoeing is the closest way to experience the arctic nature. The deep snow crunching under the shoes, the snow-hooded trees, and the pearly-white willow grouse watching you from afar – the winter nature is a magical world of its own. You can spot animal tracks on snow, see the snow-covered forests and if lucky, also meet some wildlife during your trek. There will be a lunch by open fire during this calm walking day.
  • 1-hour Sauna experience with jacuzzi – In Koski (Finnish word for rapids), the sauna is heated by a Finnish electric sauna stove. In addition to the sauna, there is a dressing room, bathroom and showers. From the sauna you will find an entrance to the terrace, where you can enjoy the warmth of your own jacuzzi overlooking the rapids of Juutua River.

Day 5: Ice Fishing and Aurora Camp
  • Breakfast
  • 4-hour Ice fishing with snowmobile sleigh – Ice fishing done in traditional Finnish way; does it get any better? Spend the day outdoors and learn how the fishing during winter is done. You will learn interesting facts about the life up in the North. We will have a nice snowmobile sleigh ride to the best ice fishing spots. Our guide will teach us how to make some holes through the ice, and then we try and see who the best fisher is. Day includes a tasty lunch by open fire.

  • 5-hour Aurora camp by snowmobile sleigh – 2.5-hour Aurora camp by snowmobile sleigh – Admire the Northern Lights while you are comfortably seated in a sleigh pulled by the snowmobile. We will head to the Aurora hunting on the amazing Lake Inari. You can enjoy the northern sky all the way to the campsite. The atmosphere by the campfire is an experience in itself. We will enjoy the blazing campfire with hot drinks and each other’s company
Day 6: Aurora Snowmobiling

  • Lunch
  • Evening meal
  • 5-hour Aurora snowmobiling – Imagine combining snowmobiling and if lucky enough also the Northern Lights. We will be heading to the open spots, where the chances of seeing the Aurora are the highest. Driving distance depends on the weather conditions; if the sky looks promising, we will stop and admire this beautiful show. We will enjoy the blazing campfire with hot drinks and each other’s company.
Day 7: Siida Sami Museum and Aurora Workshop
  • Breakfast
  • 3-hour Visit to Siida Sami museum – Explore the Sami Museum and Nature Centre SIIDA with a guide. During the guided tour you will get familiar with the rich and varied history of the Sami people and their role in modern day Lapland as well as see the wonders of the Arctic nature. shop.
  • Lunch
  • Evening meal
  • 1 hour Aurora workshop – Our expert guides will tell you everything you need to know about northern lights. Guides will give you a simple overview of the science behind this phenomenon. You can take your own camera with you and get the setting optimised for photographing northern lights.
