Package Itinerary

All of our packages are tailored and may vary slightly from the below although here is an idea of what you can expect:

Day 1: Welcome to Kakslauttanen

Flights from your nearest chosen airport to Ivalo via Helsinki. You’re then picked up from the airport with other guests and transferred to the Kakslauttanen arctic resort. After you’ve checked in you’ll head over to your Kelo glass igloo cabin, prepare to be impressed. After dropping off your bags and taking some time to explore your cabin, you’ll head over to the restaurant for a delicious evening meal. Staff will be on hand to advise on the menu and answer any questions you may have. You may wish to enjoy a drink in the bar before heading back for the night in your Kelo glass igloo cabin – fingers crossed you will get your first chance to see the aurora.

Day 2: Snowmobiling & Aurora Reindeer Sleigh

After a filling breakfast in the restaurant, you’ll put on your thermal clothing and prepare to head out on the snowmobiles – After a brief instruction you will be ready to drive the snowmobiles, don’t forget to take your driving licence. You’ll be on the snowmobile in pairs and can take turns to share the driving. You set off across the pristine Lapland wilderness and will experience forests, frozen lakes and rivers.

You’ll have the chance to relax in the afternoon before. This evening, you’ll head out on the peaceful reindeer Northern Lights activity – a slow paced excursion into the forest – fingers crossed you’ll see the Northern Lights! If not,  hopefully, the Northern lights come out for you during your night in your Kelo Cabin.

Day 3: Husky Safari

Breakfast is served in the restaurant and you’ll soon be heading out to meet the huskies.  After a short transfer to the husky kennels you will meet your guide and learn how to drive a sledge for your husky safari activity. You share the sledge one between two and one person drives and the other sits on the sledge. Along the way there is plenty of opportunity to swap drivers so you can take turns to drive the dog team and to take pictures of your amazing experience. Along the way there is a stop for lunch which will be cooked in a wilderness camp by the guide. After lunch when everybody is refreshed and the dogs have had a rest then it’s back on to the trail for more husky sledging. When you get back to the resort you may want to take a nap or go and explore before your evening meal at the resort’s restaurant and your final night in the Kelo glass igloo cabin.

Day 4: Time to Go Home

After a hearty breakfast in the restaurant it is time to gather your things ready for the airport transfer. As you say goodbye to the winter wonderland, you’ll be left with memories that last a lifetime.  You’ll reach the airport in good time, ready for you return flights via Helsinki.
