The Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel is located at Sorrisniva, about 20 km from Alta in idyllic surroundings on the banks of the Alta River, it’s well located for seeing the Northern Lights.

An excellent alternative to the Ice Hotel in Sweden, the Alta Ice Hotel is the worlds most northern Igloo Hotel! First built in 2000, each year the designers change how it is built and designed. Indeed all exterior and interior is made of snow and ice; the rooms, the beds and even the glasses in the bar!
While temperatures inside the ice hotel remain constant between minus 4 and minus 7, you’ll stay warm in the thermal suits and sleeping bags provided. Altogether the hotel has approximately 30 rooms, ice suites, ice gallery, and ice-chapel.

You’ll fly from UK via Oslo. Transfer to Alta Scandic Hotel. Check in and take time to explore the local area. Alta is the largest town in Norway’s Northern most province and, despite the Northern location tends to be relatively mild due to the Atlantic current. Additionally its great location resulted in the world’s first Northern Lights viewing observatory at the end of the 19th Century. You spend the first night in Comfortable twin/double rooms at Scandic Alta
After a good night’s sleep you’ll be ready for breakfast. Enjoy some delicious breakfast treats. After breakfast, it’s time for your Sami tour – This is a unique and intriguing experience amid breath-taking scenery. The Sami family will guide you along through unforgettable events that highlight their past and present culture. You will meet reindeer, drive your own reindeer sled, and hear stories of the old days and the special singing that is a cornerstone of Sami culture. After your sled ride, you will warm up by the fire in a traditional Sami tent, or “lavvo”, and enjoy hot coffee, tasty cake and other small snacks. Breakfast then transfer to Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel. You’ll have a short time to explore the hotel and be amazed by how its built. Then it’s time for your husky activity – Next to Alta River, approximately 5 minutes from Sorrisniva there is a dog farm where guests can get to know the special mushing community. You will put together your own dog team and harness the dogs with help from the guides. On the trip you will share the dogsled. This is a wonderful way to experience nature in Alta valley.
