If you’re going to Northern Finland and have to go via Helsinki, then we absolutely recommend extending your trip a couple of days and taking one or two nights in the center of this beautiful city – you can thank us later for the tip!
Top five things to do in Helsinki (in no particular order)
1 – If you’re visiting Helsinki in the summer, go for a picnic in summer on one of the archipelago islands!
2 – You must try one of the neighbourhood saunas – we recommend Löyly Sauna (pictured, outside area) but only during off peak times during the weekday, avoid weekends and peak times.
3 – How about taking a daytrip to Porvoo, did you know it’s Finland’s second oldest city!
4 – Head to the trendy district of Kallio – a fab and friendly neighbourhood full of café’s, independent shops and boutiques
5 – Visit Helsinki Library – possibly one of the most peaceful things to do in Helsinki, spend a couple of hours here or a whole day if you’re not rushed for time!
