About Hotel Kakslauttanen

At Kakslauttanen there aren’t just glass igloos, there are a selection of cabins, glass igloos, Queen Suites and Kelo Glass Igloos – a combination which is part cabin, part igloo. The resort has expanded in recent years and there are two sides to the one resort – the East and the West, the cabins are identical on both sides of the resort those in the West are slightly newer, all the small/large cabins have the same features and décor.

There are a variety of different accommodation options at Hotel Kakslauttanen – small cabins, large cabins, small igloos, large igloos, Kelo Glass Igloos (MORE KELO INFO HERE) and the Queen Suites are the most popular. Later in 2018, the brand new “Luxury Kelo” is opening, this is a giant combination of 3 Kelo cabins and allows large families or small groups to all stay under one roof for the duration of their stay – whilst having the joy of daily access to the three attached glass igloos. (MORE LUXURY KELO INFO) Our most popular igloo holiday is a threee night trip with 2 nights in a cabin and 1 night in an igloo. (3 NIGHTS MORE INFO)

Northern Lights Igloos

Finland Glass Igloos

The original glass igloo resort is Kakslauttanen in Finland although a surprising number of people think this resort is in Iceland! Current there are no Iceland Glass Igloos although we’ll likely be one of the first operators to offer them if they are ever built! There are some Aurora Bubbles in Iceland however from what we’ve seen they are made of plastic so not entirely sure how warm they’d be in the depths of Icelandic winter!

Finland is absolutely beautiful all year round however, the winter is the best time to see the northern lights from your igloo, whilst we cannot guarantee sightings of the Aurora our travel specialists – who’ve stayed at Hotel Kakslauttanen themselves, can recommend the best times to travel to see the Northern Lights depending on your own requirements. Our team will find you the best dates, flights and prices and you can book safe in the knowledge we’re ATOL protected.

There are a number of other igloo holidays available in other areas of Finland (MORE INFO) however if you’re looking for the original igloo hotel then its Hotel Kakslauttanen which you’re looking for!
