Having a holiday in the Arctic is undoubtedly one of the most memorable experiences you can have. From beautiful landscapes to exploring the historic cultures and fun activities, the Arctic offers never-ending possibilities for an adventurous yet luxurious holiday.

Whilst the Arctic may not be the most obvious choice when it comes to booking a luxury holiday, Arctic Direct offers incredible luxury accommodation such as Loggers Lodge and Arctic Retreat. And all our resorts offer first-rate service with the most enjoyable activities included in your stay.

The snow of course makes visiting in the winter an incredible time time to experience all it has to offer. Skiing, husky safari and dog sledding are just some of the activities that the Arctic has to offer during the winter. But the fun is not limits to the winter. Once summer comes around and the ice melts, you can go kayaking, hiking, and fishing. The options are endless!

Where to stay on your Arctic holiday

Choosing your accommodation when venturing on a luxury adventure in the Arctic is just as important as the holiday itself. If you’re looking for something more boutique, then staying in the Arctic Retreat could be the perfect location. Offering your own private sauna and activities with small groups, there’s no better way to unwind on holiday.

Located in the middle of the wilderness, 5km away from the nearest building is the Luxury Lapland Lodge. With no light or sound pollution, you can truly enjoy what the lodge has to offer. Your own quality local dining, private outdoor hot tub, and cosy fireplace. Not to mention all the amazing winter activities included in your package.

Best time to visit to see the Northern Lights during your Arctic holiday

Most people who plan to visit the Arctic want to venture through the white mountains, go husky sledding and see the Northern Lights. During the Arctic winter there are countless incredible places where you can search for this natural phenomenon. During December when the Arctic has 24 hours of darkness, there are more chances to catch the Northern Lights. Be aware however, that because it can also be very the snowiest month, the cloudy weather may prevent your chances to see the Northern Lights.

As you get closer to the middle of winter (mid-January to mid-March), the skies get clearer, and the nights get longer. This means the aurora is easier to spot. Just be aware we cannot predict when the Northern Lights are visible because it depends so much on the weather.

Why not experience the Northern Lights with a private photography activity? Spend three – four hours with a professional photographer and travel to the best location on the night. You’ll be shown how to best capture the auroras and throughout your trip, if you see the Northern Lights, you can practice your new skills.

The Arctic all year round

Although we believe the winter season in the Arctic is a beautiful time to visit, there are areas to be explored all year round. Asides from being the famous winter wonderland, the summer months can be just as exciting. Experience the beauty of the midnight sun, visit the nearby waterfalls, or take part in a whale watching tour.

While there is plenty of pleasure to be had discovering the Arctic, no visit is quite like the ones we provide. A fantastic, eco-friendly resort with an added bit of luxury, be sure to make this your next holiday!
