What to do if affected by collapse of Simply Sweden?

Arctic Direct are saddened to hear of the confirmed collapse of fellow Nordic travel specialists Simply Sweden.

Following the collapse, we have been approached by a number of customers who have been affected by the failure of Simply Sweden and are helping customers, where possible, to fulfil their holiday packages. We are also in discussions with the ATOL to see that we can help any customers who may have been affected by this as we offer a variety of similar holiday products.

 

According to the publication Travel Weekly; “The company traded under the names Simply Northern Lights and Simply Sweden and under the websites simplynorthernlights.co.uk and simplysweden.co.uk. It was founded in 2006 and also sold packages to Norway. Both websites have been shut down and direct customers to atol.org.uk if holidays include flights and customers who have holidays without flights are referred to Affirma Insurance Claims Department.”

A note on their websites says: “It is with deep regret that Simply Sweden has ceased trading.”

The news which has now been confirmed by the Civil Aviation Authority means that customers may need to make alternative travel arrangements.

The CAA has advised;

“Consumers due to travel in September

If you booked a package with Simply Sweden Ltd and were issued with an invoice confirmation and ATOL Certificate which states ‘Package sale’, and you hold scheduled tickets for travel in September 2017, the flight may be valid. Passengers are advised to check with the airline, if the airline confirms you have a valid ticket for travel you have two options:

Option 1. If you do not wish to travel or the flight is not valid, you can make a claim for a refund for the amount you paid to Simply Sweden Ltd for your ATOL Protected package.

Option 2. You can use your flight and make a claim for the cost of replacing the other elements included in your original package. However, there is a limit to the amount you can claim. Please note claims cannot exceed the total cost of the original booking made with Simply Sweden Ltd.

The other services have not been paid to local suppliers and you will be required to re-arrange and pay for these services again. To avoid any issues in resort, consumers still wishing to travel should confirm all the elements of their booking and agree payment for these in advance of travel.

Consumers due to travel from October onwards

If you booked a package with Simply Sweden Ltd and were due to travel from October 2017 onwards. You will not be able to travel and you may be entitled to claim from the CAA.”
