Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort is located in Finland, around 10km away from Saariselkä in Northern Lapland, 260 km North from Rovaniemi. Saariselkä village has about 350 inhabitants, making this destination one of the most authentic in Lapland. It belongs to Inari municipality, which together with Ivalo has about 7000 inhabitants. There also have one of the biggest Sámi communities in Finland, with about 2000 Sámi living in the area.
Saariselkä and the Kaksualttanen Igloo Village are ideal for those looking for an authentic and natural experience in Lapland. A good local infrastructure and good selection of hotels provides a comfortable base to explore winter at its best. Highlights include breathtaking snowmobile safaris on the fells, rides with husky sledges in the wilderness around the beautiful or a peaceful and traditional visit to an authentic reindeer farm hidden deep in the forest. The Northern Lights are a massive draw to this area and at Kakslauttanen, aside from the Log Cabin accommodation you can of course stay in the glass igloos or in the recently built Kelo Glass Igloos – combining the comfort of a cabin with the brilliance of a glass igloo.
If you’re wondering how to get to Kakslauttanen, we fly guests via Helsinki to the nearby airport at Ivalo – it’s about 30mins away from Kakslauttanen Glass Igloos. In our holiday packages to Kakslauttanen we always include airport transfers.
The nearby fells are excellent terrain for cross-country skiing, sledding and hiking. There is the opportunity to cross-country ski directly from the resort if you wish.
