Opportunity to meet your dog team and have your first lesson – learn how to harness your dogs and the basic handling of your sledge. Then we pack up our sledges and set out into the forest. Our route will vary depending on the group and conditions but we try and cover forest and frozen lakes and rivers and will sleep in different accommodations where possible. Wilderness cabins are simple wood structures with log stoves for warmth and cooking. On arrival to the cabin the first priority is our dogs as we unharness them, put them to their beds and ensure they have their dinner. There may then be duties such as collecting wood for the fire or water for the dinner, lighting fires for the cabins and sauna before there is chance to relax. Most cabins have a sauna with water heater for washing. Your guide will prepare dinner before we sleep for the night. Opportunity to look for the Northern lights
