If you’re the adventurous type and don’t mind getting a little chilly to have a lot of fun, then you might want to consider some of the more unconventional holidays that are on offer these days.
The Ice Hotel in Sweden is getting more popular as people experience similar ice bars in London and other capital cities, but there’s nothing like the real thing. From taking a husky from the airport (which is more adventurous than a cab!), to living in a special ice hut, then there’s nothing quite like it. Of course it’s a good idea to warm up with some Swedish schnapps or vodka – since they’re best served cold.
Being in a colder place doesn’t form the only part of adventure though – you can make ice sculptures, go skiing, or take part in something a little more traditional such as a snowball fight.
If you’re more into fire than ice, then the best thing you can possibly do – often cited as one of the top things to do before you die – is to book yourself on a Northern lights holiday (also known as the aurora borealis). You can even enjoy the summer sun somewhere else prior to this, since the Northern lights only come out to play mostly in the late autumn or early winter, so that’s a great excuse for a post-summer getaway.
If that isn’t enough, then look at other specialist holidays we do in colder climates. We can cater to almost any taste… Just wrap up warmly.
