Love The Snow?

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

With the UK coming to standstill whenever there’s even the lightest smattering of snow, it’s possible to forget how awe-inspiring snow can actually be. Not only does it afford the world with beauty that is unsurpassed, but snow enables some of the most exiting activities on the planet – whether it’s ice diving or snowmobiling.

At Arctic Direct we recongnise that not only will a snow related holiday offer many more exciting oppourtunites than a “traditional” sun based holiday, but you can expect experiences that are unsurpassed for excitement; which makes a North Pole holiday in the snow perfect for adventure seekers, as well as anyone that just wants their holiday to live long in the memory.

Perhaps you want to retrace the steps of explorers who pushed themselves to the very limits of endurance, whilst surrounding yourself in perhaps the most stunning environment on the whole planet. Well with a North Pole holiday, you can do just that – ad what’s more, we’ll handle everything from flights to accommodation.

Or perhaps you really want to push yourself to the limits of experience, in which case the snow represents the perfect place to do it. For example, you could enjoy a unique ice diving experience, which will take to you some of the most unexplored and stunning marine environments on the whole planet.

With many holidays conforming to the same old outworn ideals of sunbathing by the hotel pool, or drinking in bars, finding a truly memorable and unique holiday experience can be tricky. However at Arctic Direct we feel that we have the answer – a North Pole holiday.

A Vision To Inspire

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

The Aurora Borealis (or Northern Lights) have long fired the imaginations of poets and frontiersmen, who have seen those strange lights emanate strangely out of the black of northern skies. It is no surprise then, that for as long as people have laid the eyes the Aurora Borealis, it has been a source of tremendous inspiration, colouring mythology art and poetry with its unique palette.

Even thousands of years ago, the Aurora Borealis were not only known by Norse civilisations but defined much of their mythology, and, amongst other things, they believed that the lights represented the armour of Valkyrie warrior virgins. Recognising that not only did the lights have startling beauty, but also apparently tremendous power.

Such is the enigmatic power of the Aurora Borealis that not only does it effect people who lay eyes on it, but it has also spread into the imaginations of cultures and artists far from its reach. For example, it has become a particular inspiration to novelists and poets, such as Philip Pullman, who view the lights as the perfect metaphor for their artistic ideas.

So – perhaps you are a creative type, or just want to experience one of the most unique and awe-inspiring visions that the universe has to offer? Well with Arctic Direct, the Northern Lights needn’t seem like a world away, and with our northern lights holidays taking you to Abisko (one of the best places to see the lights), you have a real shot at a once in a lifetime experience.
